Summary of Position                                                                                                  

Responsible for conducting research and analysis on competitor product and rating data for five states, working with Senior Operations Analyst and an outside actuary to propose product enhancements and rate adjustments. Work with other company departments, Finance/Accounting & Data Management to use and understand policy data. Assist to compile and report industry data calls. Responsible for assisting the Agency Management Team and Underwriting with analytical tasks and projects as assigned.

Essential Duties & Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct premium analysis to optimize profitability, competitive advantage and ensure an adequate premium.
  • Develop documents and presentations for the Operations Manager and Senior Operations Analyst to outline requested changes with appropriate detail for each party
  • Advance knowledge of state’s DOI and industry agencies data requests to meet mandatory regulatory requirements. Understanding of enterprise's data with support from Finance and Data Management to comply with periodic data calls.
  • Complete periodic reports and data submissions for senior management and our partners.
  • Work with Senior Operations Analyst to develop rate proposals, maintain competitor product and rating data.
  • Interact with an outside actuary to identify and leverage company’s rating and claims/loss strengths and improve company’s rating weaknesses.  
  • Review and maintain company data for analysis purposes within the Operations Department and other departments in the company.
  • Assist Senior Operations Analyst & Operations Manager in identifying any issues pertaining to producers and the third-party administrator.


  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
  • Preferred 1 to 3 years of experience within a P&C Insurance Carrier or Wholesale operation.
  • Strong analytical abilities with a willingness to learn and gather knowledge.
  • Computer literate – Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and intermediate understanding of Access, PowerPoint & Word.
  • Knowledge of mapping software (Tableau, ArcGIS, eSpatial, etc.) preferred.
  • Understanding of SERFF and experience with rating engines utilized in the rate development process a big plus.
  • Possess good research and writing skills.
  • Good presentations skills.
  • General lines insurance certification or CPCU a plus.
